About:
Maltochello was founded by Michelle Rankin in 2021 and features her original artwork as well as prints, greeting cards, and small gift items featuring her designs. It started in a her home and then expanded to a studio at Good Dad Studios in Austin. Michelle's passion is creating art that sparks joy and promotes kindness, love, and inclusivity. She is inspired by nature and follows her curiosity to create whimsical, vibrantly colored art. In her work, she uses a combination of paints, markers, embroidery, and other mixed media. Michelle has always loved things that are handmade, colorful, quirky and/or vintage, and she tries to use upcycled materials where possible. Like people, there is something beautiful about art and objects that have personality and history.
About Michelle:
Michelle Rankin is the artist and owner of Maltochello. She is a native Texan and has lived in the Austin area since high school. She graduated from University of Texas at Austin and worked in the local tech industry for over 25 years before retiring to pursue creating art.You can see the Texas influences in her art subjects and style. She has had art featured in the multiple gallery exhibits/shops and also has participated in numerous art festivals and markets in Texas.

Why Maltochello?
One of the most common questions we get is where the name Maltochello originated. Love of her family is central to Michelle’s life and so she wanted that reflected in the name of her small business. Maltochello is a made up word using letters from the names of her husband, kids, and grandkids.
